The Financial Aid Application

Step 1: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Each applicant must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year for which aid is requested. The FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Before completing the FAFSA, each student will have to request a personal identification number (PIN), which is available at www.pin.ed.gov.

Step 2: Mandatory Entrance Counseling

Each student must complete one-time Entrance Counseling prior to receiving any student loans. This counseling is completed at the time that a student is applying for loans for the first year. It can be completed online at www.mapping-your-future.org.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Type in the address www.mapping-your-future.org.
  • Click on the Student Loan Counseling Interview tab in the left upper corner of the page.
  • Follow the instructions and complete the counseling and quiz. These results will be sent to the Institute directly.

Step 3: Decide on the loan amount.

Each student should plan to talk with the Financial Aid Administrator about how much money he/she would like to request.

Step 4: Proceed to www.customschool.com/siom to fill out the Stafford loan application, PLUS loan application, and Master Promissory note.
