Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine
Weekend Acupuncture Study on Vashon Island
An Acupuncture Degree Program For Health Care Professionals and Self-Motivated Learners

The Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine offers a unique program of study leading to an accredited master's degree in acupuncture. The program is designed for those who need to maintain a weekday work schedule but would like to become licensed and certified in this therapeutic approach. The majority of the academic instruction occurs in weekend intensives.  Many of these intensives occur at a forest retreat on Vashon Island. This natural setting provides an ideal atmosphere for the study of this ancient medicine.

The master's degree program is three years in length with each academic year being divided into three 15 week trimesters with five weekend intensives in each trimester (one weekend every three weeks during each trimester). There is a flexible schedule for clinic preceptorship, internship, and lab practice time during the week in the larger Seattle area.

Class size is limited to 12 students. The next class is scheduled to begin in May 2012. For more information please download this PDF.  Additional information about our programs is available in our catalog.
