The Seattle Institute of Oriental medicine offers a wide range of health care options where patients can be treated directly by SIOM faculty. In these clinics, licensed faculty treat patients while students observe and assist. These shifts include options for care in both eastern and western medicine. For more information or to set up an appointment, please contact the clinic receptionist at (206) 517-4541.
Preceptorship ClinicsIn the preceptorship clinics experienced faculty practitioners at SIOM provide care to patients with 3 - 4 first year student interns observing and assisting in patient care. These clinics are a relatively low cost option to receive direct care from SIOM faculty with able assistance from our first year interns. Check the clinic schedule for times and names of faculty/practitioners and cost. Advanced Observation ClinicsAdvanced Observation shifts are where several of our faculty practitioners provide a "private practice" venue for patient care with a maximum of one student observing and assisting the practitioner. Check the clinic schedule for times, names of licensed faculty/practitioners and cost. Western Medicine Collaborative Care ClinicThis clinic shift is staffed by a western medicine M. D. with a focus on family medicine and an interest in natural medicine and integrated health care. The physician provides standard western medical care such as annual physicals, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of complaints, a network of referrals to specialists, lab and diagnostic imaging ordering/interpreting, and office procedures such as suturing and removal of skin lesions. A student intern observes and assists the M. D. physician as part of SIOM's program to prepare its graduates to work in collaborate health care settings. Many of our acupuncture patients utilize this service for their western medicine healthcare needs. Check the clinic schedule for times, names of licensed faculty/practitioners and cost. Offsite Faculty ClinicsMany of our faculty have their own private practices at various locations in the Seattle area. We are grateful for their time that they take to come teach our students in their arenas of expertise. They also often allow students to come and observe them in their practice. Check our faculty list to read bios of our faculty and links to their particular clinic sites and web information. |
