“Qu Ze” was first mentioned in Ling Shu: Moxibustion Point/Root Transport Point as the He point of the hand Jueyin channel. It has clearing the heart, draining fire, and harmonizing and regulating intestinal and stomach functions. Often, it is needled perpendicularly .5 to 1 cun, pricked to bleed, or used with moxibustion.

Placement and Selection Method

  1. In the center of the elbow crease, over the second head of the humerus, on the edge of the tendon. (The Standard Acupuncture and Moxibustion Channel and Point Location Atlas)
  2. With the palm facing upward, slightly bend the elbow, on the elbow crease to the edge of the tendon you will find the point.

Local Anatomy: On the ulnar side of the arm, on the second head of the humerus; at the place where the humeral artery and humeral vein are located; in this area is the stem of the central nerve.

Clinical Uses: Extract blood from Qu Ze to treat acute diseases. Ask the patient to lay his arm out flat in front of him. First tie a belt or rubber tie approximately two cun above the elbow, then use the index finger of the left hand to push upwards from below Qu Ze in order to build up blood and fluids at the point of insertion. Continue by using a syringe on Qu Ze on one or both arms, in the middle of the vein. Remove 1 to 3 milliliters once a day or once every other day. 1 to 3 times is a course of treatment.
