Uterine Bleeding

Case 3: Miss Xiong, woman, 50 years of age, worker, was examined July 10, 1995.

 

About two years ago, patient had a chaotic menstrual cycle that was off and on for two to three months. The menstrual cycle was prolonged and the amount was sometimes heavy, sometimes scanty.  At the time of the visit, patient’s period was ongoing for more than a month and not yet complete.  Sometimes there was no menses for one or two days, and then there was vaginal bleeding again.  When it was profuse, the bleeding would overflow down the leg. 

 

Checking the previously formula, all of it was used in order to supplement the Kidney, boost the qi, and charred to stop bleeding.  After taking the formula her spirit was improved, however, the bleeding did not stop.

 

Examination:

  • Facial complexion withered and yellowish
  • Aches lumbar region, knees soft and limp
  • Sleep was not peaceful and there were many dreams
  • Vaginal bleeding stopped for a couple of days, then the bleeding began again. 
  • Short-term lower abdominal pain simultaneously with small, dark colored blood clots with the bleeding
  • Thirst with no desire to drink
  • Tongue pale, red, fur thin, white
  • Pulse fine and weak

 

Diagnosis:  Kidney and Blood vacuity with stasis obstructing the uterine vessels.  A formula was made to boost the Kidney, supplement the blood, quicken the blood and transform stasis as the principal treatment method.

 

Prescription: yi mu cao (Herba Leonuri Heterophylli) 15 grams, pu huang (Pollen Typhae) 10 grams, wu ling zhi (Excrementum Trogopteri seu Pteromi) 10 grams, zhi ke (Aurantii Fructus) 10 grams, dan shen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) 15 grams, e jiao (Gelatinum Corii Asini) 15 grams, gui jiao (Gelatinum Plastri Testudinis), huang jing (Rhizoma Polygonati) 20 grams, shan zhu yu (Fructus Corni Officinalis) 10 grams, suan zao ren (Semen Zizyphi Spinosae) 15 grams. 

 

After taking three packs of the formula, the bleeding gradually stopped.  The patient continued to take six more packs and was fully recovered.  After that the patient took Wu Ji Bai Feng Wan and Dang Gui Extract to stabilize the condition.
