Admissions

All M.Ac.O.M. students are expected to have a laptop computer, either a Mac or PC, installed with Wenlin software(www.wenlin.com).  This software is required for the Chinese language classes at SIOM.  Once students are accepted we will provide information on how to acquire the software at the discounted SIOM rate.

We also suggest, but do not require, that students purchase a PDA or smartphone installed with Pleco software.  Pleco is a dictionary and flashcard tool for looking up and learning Chinese characters. Pleco is currently compatible with both Windows Mobile and Palm OS handhelds; however we recommend that you purchase one running Windows Mobile since Palm OS might not be supported in future versions of Pleco.
